This afternoon, my Donnie Dear, after preparing a fabulous brunch for us, took me for my birthday to the recently reopened Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. It was closed for nearly twenty years 1986-2005, after falling into disrepair and competing with nearby Empire State Building and the late Twin Towers. After some initial confusion on where to purchase tickets (a pricey $19 apiece, tax included) were resolved,we were on our way up,up ,up! A very fast elevator ride zoomed us up to the observation deck (70th floor) in probably less than a minute! Panoramic views awaited us when we
reached the top. The weather was perfectly sunny in the comfortable seventies with a slight breeze and the visibility was excellent. The view to our south, we could see the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings, to the east, Brooklyn, to the west, New Jersey and to the north, the majestic Central Park. There were probably dozens of other landmarks we could have seen if we wanted to spend more time there. Other people sharing this experience with us were many different international visitors speaking various languages at any given time. We spent roughly a half an hour up there and were plenty satisfied. Recommended.

The pics look gr8.
