Michael Flatley
Lord of the Dance's Michael Flatley is the host of a new international dance competition, The Superstars of Dance" which is like the, "Olympics of Dance" as various countries go head to head to be the eventual victor. Remember, Michael Flatley guest hosted for one show of Dancing With the Stars last season and his generous scores were appreciated by the pro dancers and contestants alike!
The judges included representatives from Argentina, India, Australia, South Africa, United States, Ireland, Russia and China. Almost sounds like a world summit of the most powerful nations on earth? South African judge was by far the most critical.
Former Miss USA, Susie Castillo is the co-host of the program.
On the second night of competition, Argentina and Ireland were in the lead, but that could quickly change as there were many more dances to be performed.
Group dance by Argentina failed to impress the judges. It had fancy rope work, but lacked actual dancing. Scores would wind up being the lowest of the night, mostly, sixes and sevens!
Separate solo traditional dances by Indian and Irish females were not scored as highly as either woman would have liked.
Australian duet was hot and dynamic, but scored only eights.
South African ballroom duet with a shirtless dude and his female partner was very sexy performed to Whitney Houston's, "I Have Nothing" and their scores should have been better than mostly eights.
Chinese martial arts solo male dance was not receiving much love from the judges, nor shockingly was the U.S. tap dancer who both scored lower than they desired.
Traditional Russian dance was not judged well and India's Bollywood group dance which I found exciting and energetic was viewed as not being very mature and lacked a proper group dynamic.
Solo South African female dance was adored with mostly scores of nines.
Solo Argentinian dance received fair reviews.
Irish duet was very pretty and surprisingly received only eights, but Russia and China showed more love with scores of nines.
Young Chinese duet was incredible as the male dancer balanced his female partner on one shoulder (and she was on her tippy toes for most of the performance). But, the judges wanted to see more movement and the Chinese pair received mostly sevens.
The Russian female soloist was splendid! A unanimous score of nines!
Australian male soloist was very fluid and the judges were rapturous with their praise with nines and ten apiece from India and Russia.
The U.S. hip-hop group, The Groovalou were sensational! Nines and three tens!
Russia and Argentina were eliminated from the group portion of the competition.
