GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 12/4/08

Who won the first solo surgery?  Dr. Cristina Yang had to make the decision as punishment for her intern who led the other interns in performing surgery on each other last episode.  And since the interns were banned from the OR, another resident was going to join the winner in the OR. All of the Cristina's fellow residents made their respective pitches about why they should be the doctor in the OR room for the first solo surgery. Also, Cristina was assigned to be by the side of the socially challenged Dr. Virginia Dixon.  Dr. Dixon offended a family whose daughter was brain dead due to a car accident by saying that they needed to donate the girl's organs as soon as possible.  Alex got the solo surgery because he made the best case to Yang.  He chose Izzie to scrub in with him for the solo surgery.  But, can Alex compete against a dead man for Izzie's love? 

Yes, Denny the Ghost was still charming Izzie, but testing the patience of a bewildered audience.  Izzie seemed to be too focused on Denny and neglecting her clinic duties.

Callie seemed to over Dr. Hahn.  But, was Sadie flirting with her?

Dr. Sloan tried to contain his feelings for Lexie by concentrating on his work.  But, he gave in and had sex with her later.

Dr. Hunt and Cristina had a good smooch.

GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 11/20/08

On tonight's Grey's Anatomy, did Izzie really have sex with Denny the Ghost?   And where did this leave Alex?

Everyone wanted to an appy (appendectomy) surgery, but Lexie and her fellow interns couldn't wait.  Lexie and the other interns practiced a secret appendectomy on Sadie with disastrous and nearly fatal results and needed the assistance of Meredith and Cristina. A fellow intern told George that Lexie was in love with him.  Did George finally get it?   Meredith and Cristina almost got by without a reprimand from the Chief regarding the situation until Lexie came barging into the office strongly implying that Crisitina had prior knowledge of the outlaw surgery (which she didn't, she thought she had shut down a much smaller operation involving the interns).  Cristina was furious with Meredith for not having her back and she worried about not getting the highly coveted solo surgery.  The interns were placed on probation and won't see the inside of an OR until further notice. 

Callie was still having a hard time getting over Dr. Erica Hahn's sudden departure from her life.  And to add insult to injury, she got accidentally socked in the nose by a patient who wound up in the hospital after sleepwalking through a window.

Dr. Hunt had trouble expressing his feelings for Cristina even though he eventually told her that she was beautiful.

GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 11/13/08

On tonight's Grey's Anatomy, the hospital was abuzz about the sudden disappearance of Dr. Erica Hahn.  Callie felt blameworthy and was very upset about it.  She was also not very happy when her patient died.  (She rebuilt his bones, but unfortunately that was not enough)  Almost like she had two deaths in one week. 

A sexy and adventurous new intern Sadie (Melissa George) who happened to be an old friend of Meredith's and an eccentric new heart surgeon, Dr. Virginia Dixon (Mary McDonnell)  joined the staff at the hospital.

A recent hire, Dr. Hunt made a decision about not performing a surgery in the OR that ruffled Dr. Shepherd's and Dr. Sloan's feathers.  But, all three docs compromised with the patient and were able to operate on the patient, but sadly it was all for naught since the patient died.

Meredith tried to be nice to her sister, Lexie after discovering that she cut her forearm (which was done accidentally as Lexie was practicing on herself, unbeknowst to Meredith)  when Lexie was prepping to win the intern slot for the highly prized eventual solo surgery.  Cristina got undued credit for Lexie's fine job in the OR by the Chief.  Dr. Hunt and Cristina did some liplocking, but it didn't last long.

Izzie attempted to make sense out of a patient's spiritual beliefs regarding being haunted by an accident in which part of the victim's heart wound up in the patient.  Izzie's Denny who was a ghost in this episode as well as last episode guided Izzie through this procedure and with her life.  Izzie couldn't seem to get rid of her ghost, Denny who turned out to be very human?

GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 11/6/08

On tonight's Grey's Anatomy, Izzie's past came back to haunt her as a few years ago she used her doctor status to move up her boyfriend's heart transplant.  Izzie was placed on probationary leave, but now Dr. Hahn's patient was in a precarious situation, missing out on the heart transplant that Izzie's stole for her patient instead.   Once Dr. Hahn found out about this, she went ballistic and wanted Izzie fired, but, instead Dr. Hahn had Izzie to be by her patient's side, including if he died.  She wound up helping him stay alive.  Callie took Izzie's side that infuriated Dr. Hahn and also, Erica realized that, "you can't be kinda lesbian" referring to Callie.

Brooke Smith aka Dr. Hahn seemed to be going out of Grey's Anatomy in dramatic fashion.  For those not in the know, Brooke Smith was fired, tonight was her last episode.

The residents were very excited that one of them would be chosen for solo surgery.

Dr. Shepherd wanted Dr. Sloan to have sex with Cristina to keep her from talking to Meredith all night and hopefully then he would get some sleep.  He wasn't successful, didn't even get to first base!  And Cristina could not do right in Dr. Hunt's eyes.

Lexie practiced on cadavers to become chosen as an intern for the resident picked for the solo surgery.  Dr. Bailey wasn't too happy to find Lexie and Alex playing with the cadavers. 

Dr. Hunt may not be staying on because he didn't like the residents one upmanship games and personal dramas, but had a quick change of heart.

(Dr. Erica Hahn) Brooke Smith's last Grey's Anatomy episode will be on this Thursday!  Shocking!  Was it ABC's homophobia or something else? And this is ABC, the network with such gay friendly fare such as, "Ugly Betty" and "Brothers and Sisters".

GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 10/23/08

So much for taking slowly, Erica and Callie had sex, but it was only good for Erica, not for Callie and Callie wanted out of this budding relationship.  But, Callie decided to get hands on advice from Dr. Sloan about, "how to make a woman feel good down there"!  Then later,  Callie and Erica tried sex again.

Meredith and Derek had a, "silent fight" when the study that she and Derek conducted recently was published in a prestigious national medical journal with only Derek pictured on the cover and no credit given to Meredith.  And Derek thought that there was nothing wrong with that!  He arrogantly thought that he deserved full credit because he had more medical experience than Meredith!  Eventually,  Derek offered a huge apology, not just a thanks, but Meredith's dream gift, a kidney in a jar from the recent megasurgery!  

The residents had a huge joint kidney surgery which involved a dozen interlinked donors called the, "Domino Surgery".  If one donor dropped out the whole thing would fall apart.  And that almost happened when a father tried to reconcile with his son by paying him $10,000  to give him a kidney! A ethical no-no for this procedure!  The father eventually had a seizure and was in critical condition.  The seemingly uncaring son finally came around. Also, a young woman who was having an affair with her donor and wanted to force her lover to make a choice between her and his wife, by giving up one of her kidneys, but was disappointed to discover that he didn't really care for her at all.  Once,the wife found out about this affair, she wanted out from the surgery, but Dr, Bailey convinced her, that it wasn't a good idea for the other participants in the surgery.

George was stunned to learn the depths of Lexie's feelings towards him when she felt rejected when George did not actively seek her out as one of his interns. 

Izzie and Alex finally got over their crap and had a good kiss!

Crisitina met her military doctor from a few weeks again at a bar.

Very good episode.  Nice mix of personal and medical drama with a healthy dose of humor thrown in!  

 

GREY'S ANATOMY RECAP 10/16/08

On tonight's Grey's Anatomy episode, Derek discovered Meredith's mother's diary during their moving in together.

Callie and Erica went out on a, "real date" and Callie was very nervous about it.  Surprisingly, Dr. Bailey gave her advice on how to talk about it with Erica.  Erica and Callie decided to take it very slowly. 

The residents were not allowed to practice in their specialties and had to perform medical duties not necessarily to their liking.

Izzie got furious with Alex when he stole her patient.  She told the patient that Alex was depressed and won him back, much to Alex's chagrin.

George anxiously awaited his results from his intern exam.  He passed!  George bonded with his eight year old patient which enabled the boy to deal with his upcoming surgery.  George was oblivious to his roommate, Lexie's attraction towards him.

Cristina's assignment was at a clinic where their doctor's environment was, "very chill", the total opposite of Grace Hospital. Meredith and Izzie joined Cristina and were mesmerized as well.
